_**About the Author**_
Shivani Tibrewala is a playwright and director based in
Mumbai. In 2002, she founded her own theatre company, No License Yet. Her plays
have been performed in India and abroad. She has also written the scripts of feature
films, documentaries and television programmes.

_**About the Book**_
This collection comprises three of Shivani’s plays – _The
Laboratory_ (which throws light on multinational pharmaceutical companies that conduct
unethical drug trials in India), _Whatever You Say_ (a play that captures the relationship
between two people which is no longer what it used to be) and _Staying Alive_ (a
dance drama weaving together several monologues celebrating life).

The publishing of this book was made possible by a generous donation given by **
Writers Workshop** author, J. Afshan, towards promoting new writing and genres of
writing usually ignored by larger publishing houses. There are few things that could
give a small publishing house like ours greater joy than when one of our old writers
helps bring out the first book of a new writer. We are deeply grateful to Afshan
for supporting our efforts and, in however small a way, supporting the world of
non-mainstream creative writing.
