_Ebb and Tide_

And then that thought strikes you
It stings you With a scorpion’s sting Sudden,
sharp, complete

And sweat stains the spine
Trickles down Streaming through the crack Until it gets
To the foot of the hill

Where it forms a pond
In which you swim Sometimes drowning Sometimes surfacing
And resurfacing

Tears
Draw films of life For you to choose from

And when these waters have done their time
The scene that stands before your eyes
Stays its course until the end

Of the next time
