_To My Son_

You must go my son
go away to a future, all yours, to a world that beckons you
with all the hopes you deserve.

You must go away, my son
before I crush you with my own irrational fears, my anxieties
and all the insecurities too deep-rooted within me, for me to fathom, for you to
remove.

Leave me behind, my son,
put behind you the traumas you have known of a fatherless
existence and of my world, too helpless to offer you

anything.
