_**About the Editors**_
 Born in 1930, K. R. N. Swamy has been a prolific freelance
writer, specializing in India’s historical heritage since the 1950s. He has published
two other books with **Writers Workshop**, India – _**After Ambassadors, Before
Dukes**_ and _**British Ghosts and Occult India**_. His _Mughals, Maharajas and
the Mahatma_ was published by HarperCollins in 1997 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee
of Indian Independence. All these books exemplify Swamy’s meticulous research in
the national libraries of India, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Born in 1961, Meera Ravi comes from a background where writing and journalism have
been a family tradition for three generations. She began her writing career as a
teenager, has considerable experience as an international correspondent and, at
present, works as Deputy News Editor with the _Bahrain Tribune_.

_**About the Book**_
The mystery surrounding the ultimate fate of the famous Mughal
Peacock Throne – the fabulous creation of Emperor Shah Jahan – fascinated K. R.
N. Swamy. While researching in libraries in India, France, Germany, Russia, the
United Kingdom and the United States of America, he found no book devoted solely
to the Peacock Throne, although there were several books on Taj Mahal – the other
masterpiece by the same emperor. This book is therefore the first anthology on the
subject.
