_**About the Author**_
 Born in Punjab, Ramandeep Johal teaches Physics at the Indian
Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali. His research interests include
the foundations of thermodynamics: the theory behind thermal machines, its extensions
to the microscopic world and the theory of inference. He is equally drawn to the
arts – cinema, photography, painting, and, of course, poetry.

Its curl does not follow
 some pattern _à la_ Fibonacci. Beauty is not a concern
here. But being warm, and a strategy to stay that way.

You can pass by, very close
 and without any alarm. The crinkle of a wrapper would
not ring a bell

and you may munch on.

A dog that’s losing heat quickly
 doesn’t care if some humans feel free on a winter
evening, just because they’re good at keeping warmth to themselves.
